“Thank you to all the 2022-2023 Climate Detectives’ teams for making a difference” ESA

 

We would like to say a massive thank you to all the students, teachers and facilitators across Ireland that have spent their school year 2022/2023 conducting climate investigations with the mission to “make a difference”!

Climate Detectives is a school project for students between the ages of 8 and 19 run by the European Space Agency (ESA) in collaboration with the national European Space Education Resource Offices (ESEROs).

An amazing 38 projects were completed in Irelands pilot programme, with many of these projects being presented at the final electrifying showcase event at TUS Athlone on the 27th of April.

As this years Climate Detective school project has come to a close, more than 170 teams from all over Europe have shared their investigations on the project’s platform, with special mention to “The River Dodder Detectives” which were highlighted as a highly commendable team by the European Space Agency.

The River Dodder Detectives, Ireland – The team investigated how Climate Change has affected the river Dodder’s ecosystem, using indicators such as pH, temperature, dissolved oxygen, presence of the mayfly and stonefly.  “
