To celebrate Engineer’s Week Curious Minds, SEAI and ESERO Ireland are hosting a webinar series “Engineering Inspiration“. This will take place from 3rd – 6th March at 10:00 – 10:20am and is aimed at Senior Primary School students (3rd – 6th Class) .

Schools can simply log in through Zoom and discover what engineering is all about, and students will get the opportunity to ask questions directly to the speakers.

Each day we will spotlight a different type of engineering, and we will have a complementary activity booklet students can complete throughout the week.

These webinars will be recorded and available online afterwards to allow for flexible viewing.

Tuesday 3rd March - Fiona Lavin

What do lasers, undersea data cables and Ireland’s largest energy consuming companies have in common? They’ve all been part of Fiona Lavin’s engineering journey.

Fiona is part of SEAI’s Large Business Decarbonisation team, where she works with Ireland’s biggest energy users to help them cut emissions and plan for a cleaner future. Before joining SEAI, she worked as a research engineer on laser technologies and deep‑ocean data cables stretching thousands of miles, giving her a unique perspective on how complex systems can be redesigned for sustainability.
