Big Screen Cosmic Adventure @ Lighthouse Cinema
This Space Week, join the ESERO Ireland Team for a space show with a difference as we take you on a journey through space.
Come along to fly through our solar system and explore other worlds, and to learn all about the ESA missions helping us understand more about our planet and our cosmic neighbours.
There will be an afternoon show for second level students in schools and Youthreach, for students in 3rd year, TY, and 5th year or equivalent, and an evening show for a general audience, aimed at adults and teens.
Tickets are free but must be prebooked.
Date and Time: 5th of October, 1pm and 6:30pm
The Rocket Revolution Challenge @ Online
Rocket Revolution is a free global schools challenge running from 5 to 11 October as part of World Space Week. Students get 90 minutes of interactive online learning about rockets, engineering and the future of space travel, with daily quizzes, badges and a place on a global school leaderboard.
Then there’s the prize. The winning school takes home the Lunar Trophy, built around a real piece of the Moon, plus a set of books for the school library. Your students could be holding a lunar meteorite 🙂 Teachers get four ready-to-teach lesson plans and a full toolkit, with no preparation needed. Students can take part in class, in a science club or at home.
School Registration are now open until 4th October. Students can access the challenge from 5th Oct until 11th Oct. Winners will be announce after 12th Oct.
Sustainable Space Workshops @ The Rediscovery Centre
The Rediscovery Centre will be delivering Sustainable Space workshops for primary learners throughout Space Week. These workshops will include hands-on, interactive activities related to space, how space exploration can lead to discoveries here on Earth, and how we can do it sustainably.

Alien Life Workshop @ Galway Atlantaquaria
Take part in a creative hands-on workshop in Galway Atlantaquaria imagining how life might evolve on other planets. Students will evaluate and interpret the adaptations of aquatic animals which inhabit extreme environments on earth. They will then work together in teams to consider, discuss, and develop their own animal that can survive in an extraterrestrial environment. Workshop will include a tour of the aquarium highlighting the unique characteristics of our aquatic animals and how they adapt to their environment.

Stargazing @ Dublin Zoo
Look up and discover the wonders of the night sky at Dublin Zoo this World Space Week.
Join us for an evening of space, science and stargazing, featuring an inspiring line-up of speakers, celestial explorers and expert stargazers.
We’ll be joined by Dr Niamh Shaw, space communicator, explorer and author of Dream Big, who has spent years pursuing her own dream of going to space. From living on rationed water during a Mars simulation to tracking penguins in Antarctica and coming face-to-face with a hungry polar bear in the Arctic, Niamh’s adventures have taken her to some of the most extreme places on Earth.
Hear Niamh share her passion for exploration and space before warming up with a hot drink and enjoying some fascinating conservation chats.
Then, as darkness falls, the Irish Astronomical Society will take us on an adventure across the galaxy, with the chance to explore the night sky through telescopes against the unique backdrop of Dublin Zoo.

Talk: Professor Kate Robson Brown @ UCD Centre for Space Research (C-Space)
Professor Kate Robson Brown is Vice-President for Research, Innovation, and Impact at UCD, and president of the European Low Gravity Research Association (ELGRA). Kate will discuss her career journey and research to date involving life science and bioengineering in space.
The talk will end with a Q&A session, so get your questions ready.

Astrozoo Teen Workshop @ Dublin Zoo
Explore extremophiles! Incredible organisms that survive in some of Earth’s most extreme environments, and discover what they can teach us about life beyond our planet.

Talk: A Career at the European Space Agency (ESA): Opportunities, Pathways, and the Journey to Space @ UCD Centre for Space Research (C-Space)
Dr. Loris Franchi will share his background and career journey before exploring the wide range of opportunities available to students and graduates at ESA, from internships and graduate programmes, to ESA Academy training and beyond. You don’t have to be a STEM student to attend! ESA encourages applicants from a wide range of academic backgrounds, so come along to discover where your skills and interests could take you in the European space sector.

Astrozoo - Family Workshop @ Dublin Zoo
Astrozoo Family Workshop: Come celebrate World Space Week at Dublin Zoo
Join us on Saturday, October 3rd, from 11am-1pm to become an Astro-biologist and explore how amazing animals adapt to survive in the extreme environments of Earth.
Meet our resident animals, run some space science experiments, get hands-on with other worlds and discover how to conserve ours

Family Space Day from Town Scientist @ Dundalk
Families in the greater Louth county region are invited to take part in an out-of-this-world adventure on Saturday 3rd October at the Town Scientist Family Day of Space, a free, fun-filled celebration of science, storytelling, and the universe around us.
Taking place from 10am to 4pm, at Louth County Library & North East Credit Union’s Foresters Building (formerly Dundalk Credit Union), the event will feature rocket launches, live talks, hands-on activities, planetarium shows, and inspiring space-themed experiences for all ages.
The event is part of World Space Week 2026 and is organised by Dr. Niamh Shaw as part of her community science programme Town Scientist, with the kind support of North East Credit Union and Engineers Ireland North East Region.
“We want to show families that space belongs to all of us,” says Dr. Shaw. “Whether you’re a young explorer or a curious adult, there’s something here for everyone. We’re delighted that the whole day is free to attend and encourage families to register for their place.
“The theme of World Space Week 2026 is Rocket Revolution, so we’re bringing back the Rocket launch programme we ran in 2025.
“We’re also delighted to include Armagh Planetarium again which was a big hit in last year’s programme. And much thanks to Brendan Owens who also returns to our Family Space Day. For those who participated in our recent Eclipse event, Brendan an astronomer, shared views of the eclipse up close through his specially adapted telescope for viewing the Sun safely.”

The Voyager Golden Record Reimagined: What Would You Send? @ Online
FREE ONLINE ACTIVITY 🚀 HELP ELEVATION ENSEMBLE TO CREATE A SPECIAL TIME CAPSULE TO MARK 50 YEARS OF THE VOYAGER & ITS GOLDEN RECORD! In 1977, a small group of scientists and creatives working on the NASA Voyager mission were asked to “send a greeting card” with the two spacecrafts. If the spacecrafts were ever to be found by extraterrestrial life, NASA thought this would be a way to introduce our planet and our civilisation. Carl Sagan and a small team thus decided to create the famous Golden Record and on it include sounds, music and imagery to represent our planet- 116 images, 27 pieces of music, greetings in 55 languages and 19 mins of the natural sounds of earth. Now, nearly 50 years later we want to know what you would send! What sounds, messages or imagery would you chose now to represent our planet and our civilisation? Think as locally, globally, creatively or scientifically as you want!
It could be: ✍️ a greeting 🎤 the name of a piece of music 📷 a photo 🎨 a piece of art 🎶 an audio file of music 📡 a scientific idea
